Q&A 2026 – Sabbath

Jun 21, 2026    Pastor Matt Sidley

In Week 2 of our Q&A 2026 series, we explore an important question about the Sabbath and what God intended it to be.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus repeatedly found Himself in conflict with religious leaders over the Sabbath. Time and again, they focused on rules and regulations while missing the heart of God. When Jesus healed the sick, restored the broken, and showed compassion on the Sabbath, He revealed that God's purpose was never to burden people with religious obligations but to bless them with rest and restoration.

In this message, we'll discover:

- Why God established the Sabbath in the first place

- How religious traditions can sometimes obscure God's intent

- Why Jesus prioritized compassion over legalism

- What true rest looks like in a busy and exhausted world

- How the Sabbath points us toward God's grace and care for His people

- The Pharisees saw violations. Jesus saw people in need.

God's gifts were never meant to become burdens. The Sabbath is an invitation to rest, trust, and experience the compassion of God.

Join us as we learn how Jesus transforms our understanding of rest and reveals the heart behind God's commands.
